Dear Parents/Guardians,

The following items are brought to your attention:

Inclement Weather:

In the case of school vehicle cancellations due to inclement weather, please check our School Board’s website ( smcdsb.on.ca) under the Transportation pull down menu, then Simcoe County School Vehicle Cancellations.  Father F.X. O’Reilly School is in the South Zone.  All efforts are made to post cancellations between 6:00 AM and 6:30 AM. 

Please note that if school vehicles are cancelled in the morning, then they will not run at the end of the school day either. If you decided to drive your child to school, you are responsible to also pick up your child by 3:20 PM. 

Progress Reports & Parent-Teacher Conferences:

Your child’s progress Report will be sent home on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Information has been sent home with directions on how you will sign up online to schedule a time to meet with your child’s teacher.  Please schedule a time as soon as possible. If you are unavailable, please contact your child’s teacher to arrange another suitable time to meet. The Parent-Teacher Interviews will take place on Thursday,  November 17 from 3:45 - 8:00 PM and on Friday, November 18 from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

Friday, November 18, 2016 is a Professional Activity Day, to enable you to meet with the teachers, so there are no classes for the students on this day. 

Parent Council Meeting:

The next scheduled Parent Council Meeting will be held in the School Library at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 9, 2016.  All parents are welcome to attend. 

Scholastic Book Fair:

The Scholastic Book Fair will be at the school during the week of November 14-18, 2016. Students will have an opportunity to purchase books. Parents will view the books during the Parent - Teacher Conferences on Thursday and Friday.

St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Assistance Needed:

St. James St. Vincent de Paul Society is requesting the assistance of the community to help ensure some less fortunate families have a happier Christmas. Your child’s class may be sponsoring a family and the teachers will communicate information to you.  However, you may also donate to the school and your donation will support those in need. The deadline is DECEMBER 2, 2016. Please assist by donating either cash or gift cards.  Some examples of gift cards could be, but not limited to:

-Walmart, Tim Horton’s, Toys R Us, Foodland, Foodland Turkey Bucks, Gas cards, Shopper’s Drug Mart, Dollar Store, any Clothing Store, Home Hardware etc..

Any size donation is appreciated.

Nov. 11 - Remembrance Day Assembly

Nov. 14 - St. Thomas Drama Presentation in the gym to Gr. K-4 @ 12:30 PM

Nov. 16 - Student Progress Reports sent home

Nov.  17 - Parent -Teacher Conferences 3:45 - 8:00 PM

              -Scholastics School Book Fair in the Library

              - Rosary Apostolate in each class

Nov. 18 - Professional Activity Day - no classes for the students

             - Parent-Teacher Conferences - 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Sign up online)

              - Scholastics School Book Fair in the Library

Nov. 21 - STEP (Student Emergency Preparedness) Program in the gym @ 9:30

Nov. 23 - Intermediate Boys and Girls South Simcoe  Schools  Volleyball Tournament
